The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts is organizing a two-day workshop on textile conservation and documentation titled Threads of Care: Techniques and Practices in Textile Conservation and Documentation from 6–7 January 2026.
The workshop will feature key resource persons — Dr. Vandana Bhandari, Dr. Anamika Pathak, and Sareekah Agarwaal — who will deliberate on core principles of textile conservation, with a particular focus on preventive conservation techniques and best practices in documentation.
This initiative marks an important step toward strengthening professional capacity in the field. Designed for museum professionals, archivists, conservators, scholars, and students, the workshop aims to build both technical knowledge in the preservation of valuable textile objects and a deeper understanding of cataloguing textiles in accordance with archival standards.
